RIM has released 3 new phones in the Curve series, they are the 9350, 9360 and 9370. The only difference between the phones is the connectivity and a slight difference with the internal storage.

On to the specs, they will have a 800MHz cpu, 512MB RAM, 5MP camera with VGA video recording, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi b/g/n with UMA, GPS / aGPS and NFC. Yep, looks like more people are jumping on the NFC bandwagon (more…)

RIM Shares falling to a five year low

0

Well it was bound to happen with Android and iOS taking over the smartphone market share at an alarming rate. Yes I might be a little biased since I use an Android handset.

In South Africa I don’t see RIM losing any ground to the likes of Android and iPhone smartphones though. That would be thanks to BBM and the free internet service that they offer with every Blackberry.

It would probably take quite a while for Blackberry smartphones to lose significant market share in South Africa.

Anyway, the shares are falling because RIM was not able to meet their target for Q2, I’d be pretty bummed if I was a share holder and the company didn’t perform as they said they would, despite their $4.9 billion in revenue and $695 million in profits from Q1 2011.
They might be able to recover a little bit with Blackberry 7 OS coming out, and the Playbook.
