FNB is making it very easy for their customers to own a tablet or smartphone. It is only available to Gold and Platinum cheque account customers or those wishing to apply for those types of accounts. There are certain conditions that apply as usual. You need to have your salary paid into the account and your debit orders need to come from this account.

Pricing wise its a good deal, for the iPad 2 you’ll pay them R200 per month for 2 years, which amounts to R4800. (more…)

Vodacom problems again

Looks like Vodacom connectivity is down for some customers again. There seems to be no phone calls, USSD or 3G coverage at the moment in the Cape Town CBD. Each time this happens, it seems to only happen to the same set of phone numbers. Newer numbers don’t seem to be affected by the outages that occur.

It looks like Vodacom is down again, so far confirmed on 4 Vodacom cellphones. I think this is the second time in less than two weeks that this has happened.

My phone is showing me that all too familiar “No Service” notification again. It’s been that way since 15:50. I haven’t seen anything on the Vodacom twitter account.

This is getting quite annoying, last time I was without any service for about 36 hours. All we got then was a lame SMS apology from Vodacom.
Update 1: Looks like Vodacom is back online – 7PM

Update 3: Back online at 11:30AM and back offline at 11:42AM
