I was having a look at my Nexus S, specifically the wireless settings and came across the NFC setting, I’d heard of it before but never actually had a chance to give it a try. Not that I have any other NFC enabled device to try it out on so I did some reading.

NFC or near field communication which operates at a range of only 20cm or less, so it’s pretty secure. This increased security over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi is why Standard Bank has decided to use this technology at Oppikoppi next month as a payment system which would get rid of the need for cash but this will require a cellphone that has a NFC chip like the one found in the Google Nexus S.
